Hey Rick, car looks good, your right though it should sit lower all the way around, not just the rear. It sits high, kind of truck like ,And there looks to be plenty of room for a Digital chip too. Inspector Bob

Picked mine up from Rick on Friday and ran it for the first time tonight at our weekly races on the former Luf Nurburgring . So how is it?
I THINK IT IS GREAT!!!
OK, so how great is great?
1. Urethanes are the tyres of choice on this track. I put on some "local" Ninco F1 size tyres on the stock wheels. Big benefit of these are that they fit tightly so no glueing required. And yes: they did "crown" because the middle ridge on the Lola's wheels are higher than those on Ninco F1 wheels. One of the beauties of urethanes is that I could quite easily true them and still have clearance for the spur gear. 2. I shimmed the guide so that the front wheels are just touching the track. The original guide has sufficient length on the shaft to allow this. Added bonus is that the guide is now slop-free. 3. Put a small bit of lead behind the front axle. 4. Lubricated all bits as required.
On the track, the car was smooth, quiet and well behaved. Can slide it very controllably and you really have to mess up to get it to deslot. Surprisingly fast in a straight line with less than stellar brakes. However: the braking performance of this car is actually pretty close to how I would have set it up with my controller in any case: strong brakes do not necessarily make for a fast, flowing lap.
As for perspective on lap times for this track: some random fast times from some of my cars:
Tonight I did my all time best lap with a new Ninco Prorace Mosler: 7.984 seconds BTW: this car now has a heavily stiffened chassis: seems Ninco anglewinders absolutely require stiffening to prevent hopping. In my opinion the inline chassis of the Acura is much better. But that is a topic to be more fully explored at another time... Best time tonight with NSR Porsche 917 (with better wheels and urethane tyres: a wonderful, wonderful car!!!): 8.320s Fly Racing Capri: 8.396s Fly Racing F40 (one of my all time favourite cars): 8.267s Slot.it McLaren with yellow endbell motor: 8.325s (used to be my fastest car at one stage)
Generally: anything under 8.5 is pretty darned fast.
Best lap time this evening for the Lola: 8.307s!! This is really, really impressive and exceeded not only my expectations, but also pretty much my greatest hopes for this car.
And it is pretty (althought beauty is always in the eye of the beholder).
I highly recommend it.

Just got mine from Rick. Lovely model in my eyes. Runs wonderful (smooth, quiet, good speed) on my short twisty wood track with a little bit of work - urethane Ninco F1 front tires on the rear, shimmed guide, CA gap-filling glue in the bushings to cut down the slop, loosened mounting screws.
I, too, like to run cars with just a little bit of brake (thanks, Luf, for making me see the light) which is characteristic of the Rev Mono stock motors. The next test is this afternoon on my LHS's big Suzuka wood track.
Great value. Thumbs up all the way.
Dan
