Just got the Scalextric Ferrari 250. I'm not a "rivet counter" so it's quite acceptable as a scale model for me. Running-wise, the front motor layout is not my favorite but I was pleasantly surprised by how well it goes on wood with a few modifications.
- replaced rear tires with urethane copies of Scalextric Sport Classic tires necessitating grinding of the interior tray to accomodate the wider tires - removed headlights, shaved chassis on sides and rear and took out rear and middle screws to introduce some body float
The Scalextric front motor gear sound is tolerable in light of the pleasant running. It's quite a sight alongside the RM Ferrari's.

Also got the 250 GTO: the very evening I got it (thanks Rick!), I put on some urethanes and used it in one of the Targa races at Luf's. I also used it in a front engine race at (the former Luf) Nurburgring. Like you Dan I really like it. No: it is not my fastest car. But it is pretty and it runs very nicely indeed.
This is one car that I will not be trying to squeeze a whole bunch of performance out of: just run it and enjoy it.
And this is my first post on the forum: good job Rick.

the slot.it order hit the states yesterday so soon should have the parts you needed Whoo-hoo, thanks! And apropos your comment about me being faster: I think we are ALL used to Slot.it being faster than what they seemed to have been on this spares shipment. Oh well, they are probably still the best out there, so all's well that ends well...
